Global Procurement Manager - Ocean & Air Freight

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Procurement Manager to lead our global ocean & air freight procurement team. This role involves managing a team, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, developing strong partnerships with key suppliers and driving initiatives to decarbonize our ocean and air freight operations. The Senior Procurement Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end procurement process for global ocean freight, driving cost efficiencies, managing risk, and ensuring the business is well-positioned to respond to market fluctuations. Another aspect of this role will be leveraging market intelligence to stay ahead of developments in global freight and socialize it to the relevant stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

- Leadership & Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team, providing guidance and support. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high standards of performance.  
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with the suppliers which are part of the SRM programme and with the key ocean and air freight suppliers, managing performance, and ensuring high levels of service and cost-effectiveness.  
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with internal stakeholders across Supply Services and Factories to understand needs, align procurement strategies, and ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.  
- Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with global ocean freight, including supply disruptions, capacity constraints, and price volatility. Develop and implement strategies to manage and minimize these risks.  
- Market Intelligence: Stay closely connected to ocean freight market developments, leveraging data, trends, and industry insights to inform procurement decisions and ensure the organization is positioned to respond to changes in the global freight market. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.  
- Contract Negotiation & Management: Lead complex contract negotiations with freight providers, ensuring favourable terms, service levels, and cost controls. Monitor contract compliance and manage supplier performance against agreed KPIs.  
- Financials: Be accountable for the financial performance of the category including NWC, and for Financial Planning & Forecasting. Drive cost-saving initiatives and process efficiencies.  
- Continuous Improvement and Reporting: Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems, ensuring best practices are followed and innovations are adopted.  Provide regular updates to senior leadership on procurement metrics, risk management, and market developments.  
- Sustainability: Develop and ensure deployment of sustainable logistics policies and procedures, focusing on carbon footprint reduction and sustainable transportation practices.

The experience we're looking for

-    Bachelor/master’s degree in business, science/engineering, supply chain or equivalent.
-    8 to 12 years of experience in Procurement. Experience in managing senior stakeholders and leading a small team is advantageous. Additionally, experience in Logistics is a must.
