About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Procurement Manager to lead sourcing activities for significant scope within the Ocean & Air Freight category. This role involves managing a small team, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, developing strong partnerships with key suppliers and driving initiatives to decarbonize our ocean freight operations. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for defining and leading the execution of category strategy oriented to deliver business objectives, driving cost efficiencies, managing risk, and ensuring the business is well-positioned to respond to market fluctuations.
Your responsibilities
- Category & Portfolio Management: Define and lead the implementation of the optimal strategy to deliver business objectives. Manage and continuously improve the procurement process for the category.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, managing performance, and ensuring high levels of service and cost-effectiveness. Explore the market to on-board new providers.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build close co-operation with internal stakeholders across Supply Services, Factories, Finance, Quality, Legal to understand needs, assess those needs driving efficiency and cost effectiveness without compromising quality, align procurement activities and decisions, ensure support to effective delivery of service.
- Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. Monitor closely market development, leveraging data, trends, and industry insights to informed procurement decisions. Be recognized as a subject matter expert in the Ocean & Air Freight category, share knowledge, know-how, and expertise with peers, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Contract Negotiation & Management: Prepare and lead contract and business negotiation with freight providers, ensuring favourable terms, service levels, and cost controls. Monitor contract compliance and manage supplier performance against agreed KPIs.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and assess vulnerability to key business risks and mitigate risk by building robust contingency plans. Mitigate risks associated with global ocean freight, including supply disruptions, capacity constraints, and price volatility.
- Financials: Be accountable for the financial performance, execution and accuracy of Financial Planning & Forecasting. Drive cost-saving initiatives and process efficiencies including NWC improvements.
- Continuous Improvement, Reporting and Digitalization: Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems, ensuring best practices are followed and innovations are adopted. Support development of internal systems driving efficiency and leveraging robust data to informed procurement and supply chain management decisions.
- Sustainability: Develop and ensure deployment of sustainable logistics policies and procedures, focusing on carbon footprint reduction and sustainable transportation practices.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor/master’s degree in business, science/engineering, supply chain or equivalent.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Procurement. Experience in managing senior stakeholders and leading a small team is advantageous. Additionally, experience in Logistics is a must.
