About General Management + Legal

Our General Management team is responsible for leading and overseeing our strategic direction, operations and performance. About the role

The Senior Advertising Claim Support Manager is responsible for the review, coordination, and approval of advertising claim support data and materials, supporting the Legal, Marketing, and Research & Development departments with advice on the technical requirements needed for specific advertising and promotional claims.  

 

Your responsibilities

•    Ensure legal compliance with applicable Federal Trade Commission (FTC), state, arbitration and advertising laws and decisions regulations concerning all advertising.
•    Review claim support test protocols created by R&D.  Ensure that success criteria comply with company standards (NA and Global).
•    Review claim support data, including scientific testing, clinical studies, market research data, consumer preference studies and survey data ensuring that the data supports the stated claims with statistical significance as required by law.
•    Build and maintain database of required claim support data.  Distribute approved data reports to responsible R&D and Marketing personnel in order to identify supportable claims.  Update archive of approved data documents.
•   Part of cross-functional team of Legal, R&D and Marketing providing concise and direct communication and information about product benefit claims.  
•    Review and provide comments on all early new product development and advertising concepts and claims to legally meet marketing strategy for local, regional and global projects.
•    Conducts and attends regular project meetings with R&D, Regulatory and other needed cross-functional personnel to ensure where possible claims testing will support Marketing-desired claims.
•    Support Attorneys in review of competitive claims locally, regionally and globally on an as needed basis. 
•    Draft and issue network advertising clearance letters in order to air copy, coordinating with R&D and Regulatory and referencing approved claim support data.  Work with marketing, agencies and networks to clear advertising/claims.
•    Participate in the coordination and organization of advertising challenges (NAD, network, litigation, etc.).  Assist in drafting challenge letters and documents.
•    Provide training to Marketing, Trade Marketing and Sales to assure understanding of competitive claims, the requirements of product label advertising and claim support and the internal review process.
•    Review and edit as necessary outgoing social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).  Review and remove as necessary in consultation with Marketing, Consumer Relations and Regulatory consumer posts made on RB sites, brand Facebook pages and sponsored blogs.  Work with cross-functional team (Legal, Regulatory, Consumer Relations, and Marketing) to develop guidelines for execution of social media activity.  Review and ensure compliance with social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) Terms of Use.
•    Participate in and direct cross-functional review of product label claims for North American business in order to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations under FTC, NAD and state and local consumer protection and advertising laws as well as internal business requirements.  This includes but is not limited to scientific and consumer preference claims, competitive claims, promotional claims (e.g. “new”, “bonus”, “free”) and slack fill and provide risk assessment.
•    Preferably able to provide support on some paralegal activities for the Legal Departement. 

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5+ years in fields related to advertising, marketing (CPG or Pharma), regulatory or R&D
  • Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Good analytical/quantitative skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in order to resolve issues
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with upper management
  • Strong technical writing ability, Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

US salary ranges

 $113,000.00 -  $169,000.00

US pay transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
