About the role
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for managing the testing and inspection of raw materials and packaging materials to ensure compliance with internal specifications, monographs, and regulatory standards. This role oversees physical and chemical analysis of incoming materials, validates and transfers analytical methods, and ensures timely release of raw materials to support production and project timelines.
Key duties include maintaining laboratory standards in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), preparing and standardizing volumetric solutions, managing chemical reagents and reference standards, and coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and outsourced laboratories to resolve quality issues. The position also requires mentoring junior staff, ensuring equipment calibration and maintenance, conducting thorough laboratory investigations, and upholding safety and SOP compliance.
Your responsibilities
- To management new raw material and packaging material testing / inspection for project with method validation (if require) and complete within timeline.
- The physical and chemical tests on incoming raw material / product following PLM specification and SOP.
- Prioritizing day to day workload of the team to meet customer service requirements in term of incoming raw material release to production and project.
- To ensure that product test results are testing, checked, approved, recorded and available for inspection in accordance with Good Manufacturing & Control Laboratory Practices.
- To be responsible for maintain raw material as internal specification / monograph.
- Perform cleaning validation, method validation and method transferred for new product if required.
- Perform method validation / verification / transferred of raw material to comply with monograph.
- Co-ordinate with technical and R&D team to deliver work.
- To review raw material report to ensure material comply with requirement before release to manufacture.
- Be responsible for preparation and standardization of volumetric solutions. Ensure that the volumetric solutions and test solutions have been changed or standardized at regular interval.
- Be responsible for management of chemical reagents, reference standard, working standard and volumetric solution in terms of storage and inventory control. Perform method validation / verification / transferred of raw material and working standard to comply with monograph.
- Co-ordinate and contract outsource laboratory for method transfer and testing sample
- Co-responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness and safety in the laboratory, also responsible for taking care of laboratory facilities to keep them in good condition and ready for use.
- Coach and mentor less experience analyst and staffs; check the quality of their work and help them resolve problems.
- Co-ordinate with planning, production, warehouse, procurement, Taisho and quality team when raw material encounter quality problem.
- To be responsible for co ordinate with supplier Raw material Material’s Supplier and Distributor if quality problem.
- To ensure that equipment, instrument are maintenance, calibrated in QC laboratory
- Accountable for ensuring laboratory investigations are thorough and accurate and escalation of confirmed Out Of Specification (OOS) and Out Of Trend (OOT) results in line with global standards and any local SOPs
- To understand and follow all necessary Health & Safety systems and ensure that work is consistent with safe working practices
- Be responsible for all SOP related to laboratory, product and safety.

The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years in a pharmaceutical, FMCG, or chemical industry QC laboratory.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory practices.
- Expertise in method validation, verification, and transfer for raw materials and finished products.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers and outsourced laboratories for method transfer and quality resolution.
- Skilled in laboratory investigations, including handling OOS (Out of Specification) and OOT (Out of Trend) results.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Ability to prepare, standardize, and manage volumetric solutions, reagents, and reference standards.
- Proven track record in raw material testing and release.
