About the role
The Microbiologist role is responsible for executing microbiological testing and quality control activities to support daily laboratory operations in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role ensures all testing, documentation, and processes comply with Good Laboratory and Manufacturing Practices while delivering accurate, timely results. Key responsibilities include testing raw materials and finished products, performing environmental monitoring, maintaining laboratory systems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong attention to detail, accountability for quality outcomes, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team to meet performance and compliance goals.
This position follows a Monday - Thursday schedule, with 10-hour workdays beginning no later than 9:00 AM. This role is required to sit on-site in our Salt Lake City plant.
This role is not currently offering VISA sponsorship or relocation packages.
Your responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples in compliance with GMP/GLP standards.
- Execute daily laboratory activities, ensuring accurate data recording, review, and documentation for quality and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain and support laboratory systems, equipment calibration, and quality control processes.
- Identify, investigate, and communicate non-conformances, including supporting OOS/OOT investigations and audit readiness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support overall QC operations to meet performance and service targets.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in a manufacturing or GMP-regulated environment. Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with microbiological methods such as bioburden testing, pathogen screening, and water testing (e.g., USP/BAM methods).
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring practices and microbiology laboratory equipment validation, calibration, and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while making sound, data-driven decisions.

US salary ranges
USD $74,000.00 - $92,000.00
US pay transparency
The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
