About the role
We are looking for a motivated and forward‑thinking individual to join our procurement team in a key supporting role. You will work closely with the Procurement Manager to help develop and implement the procurement strategy, ensuring it aligns with organisational goals and supports ongoing improvement across all purchasing activities. Your contribution will be essential in helping the business meet its procurement objectives through effective planning, strong supplier engagement, and operational excellence.
In this role, you will help ensure the company consistently sources all required materials, goods, and services to the right standards of quality, reliability, and compliance. You will support the full procurement cycle and help maintain strong supplier relationships, making sure products and services are available when needed while keeping total cost optimisation at the centre of every decision. Your ability to balance cost, value, and performance will play an important role in supporting efficiency and business growth.
Your responsibilities
- Identify and develop actionable plans that support the overall procurement strategy.
- Benchmark key pricing elements—including labour, yield, and raw/pack materials—and provide analytical insights using operational, technical, and financial data to identify leverage points for negotiations.
- Conduct market research on both current and potential suppliers to support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Perform financial analysis across the supply base to assess risk, value, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Lead contract negotiations and develop local contracts in line with business requirements and standards.
- Drive aggressive cost‑saving initiatives while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Achieve optimal cost levels while ensuring quality, service performance, and delivery targets are consistently met.
- Develop price forecasts for key market drivers to support budgeting and planning activities.
- Maintain accurate Opportunity/Risk files, platform documentation, and monthly PPV (Purchase Price Variance) forecasts.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field; a focus in Procurement or Supply Chain Management is preferred. An MBA is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant industry and at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Proven negotiation and contract management experience.
- Experience with SAP is required.
- Basic technical project management skills.
- Highly structured, detail‑oriented, and accurate in execution.
- Strong influencing, persuasion, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Quick learner with the ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels, including budget owners, peers, management, and suppliers.
- Background in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector is preferred; knowledge of pharmaceutical quality standards and regulatory procedures is an advantage.
