About the role
You will lead the review, design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of Essential Home’s global compliance programme and compliance monitoring activities. In that capacity, you will use your experience managing legal and compliance risk in a diverse range of markets to develop and improve the compliance programme and connect and harmonise monitoring activities with existing and developing compliance controls. You will also support the ongoing revision and consolidation of global policies. From time to time, you may be asked to support other members of the Essential Home Legal & Compliance function, particularly in activities related to internal investigations and risk assessments.
The role will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Corporate and Compliance, Essential Home.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the global compliance programme for Essential Home with particular focus on anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, competition law and relevant fraud prevention and anti-tax evasion legislation.
- Continually review, design, revise and implement risk monitoring activities that are connected to, and harmonized with, existing and future controls of Essential Home’s key legal and compliance risk areas.
- Design and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting tools and processes which assist the Legal & Compliance function and other functions within Essential Home to evaluate the performance of existing risk mitigation activities and controls and to determine focus areas for the ongoing management of key risk areas.
- Lead the revision and updating of cross-functional global policies for Essential Home, including coordination with relevant stakeholders and policy owners.
- As may be necessary from time to time, support other activities of the Legal & Compliance function, particularly internal investigations and enterprise and market-level risk assessments.
The experience we're looking for
- Qualification to practice law.
- 7+ years of experience in the practice or application of law and compliance, with substantial experience and demonstrated aptitude in the following areas:
- providing advice and developing and implementing programmes focussed on risk mitigation, risk monitoring and risk reporting activities across multiple global markets; and
- drafting and revising corporate policies that apply globally or across multiple markets and to multiple business functions.
- Native-level spoken and written English.
- Work experience in a multi-national environment, with experience in the UK/Europe/North America preferred.
- Experience with the performance of enterprise and market-level risk assessments preferred.
- Experience with internal investigation processes preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Strong legal and commercial acumen.
