About the role

You will lead Essential Home’s global data privacy programme and be responsible for designing and continually improving data privacy policies, procedures and processes.  You will support global business projects and initiatives to manage data privacy risk, as well as assist other members of the Legal & Compliance function to mitigate material data privacy risks in markets.  You will also be responsible for the monitoring of data privacy compliance activities and reporting on data privacy risks and the performance of risk mitigation efforts.

The role will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Corporate and Compliance, Essential Home.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead Essential Home’s global data privacy programme, developing and maintaining global data privacy policies, procedures and processes, while supporting other members of the Legal & Compliance function to ensure data privacy compliance in relevant markets.
  • Design and continually review, revise and implement data privacy compliance monitoring and risk reporting activities.
  • Support execution of complex global projects, focusing on those which trigger Data Protection Impact Assessments, in order to mitigate data privacy risks.   
  • Support members of the Legal & Compliance function in market with complex projects and strategic initiatives where significant, material data privacy risks may exist. 
  • Develop and manage toolkits to allow members of other business functions to ensure data privacy compliance.

The experience we're looking for

  • Qualification to practice law.
  • 7+ years of experience in legal or compliance roles focusing on data protection, privacy law and compliance within multinational corporations, with experience in the UK/Europe/North America.
  • Native-level spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrable experience in the execution of data privacy advice, balanced with other legal and business considerations.   
  • Able to manage data privacy risk and implement processes and solutions which balance data privacy risk with business opportunities.
  • Strong project management skills, with demonstrated experience leading complex global data projects from conception to implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong legal and commercial acumen.
