About the role

As a Project & Portfolio Management Leader, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of R&D project portfolios within your assigned categories or segments. You will ensure projects are delivered against agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards while managing risks, resources, and priorities across a complex, cross‑functional environment. This role plays a critical part in translating business strategy into executable project plans, enabling strong decision‑making, and ensuring transparency across the innovation pipeline. You will lead and develop a team of Project Managers and partner closely with R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and senior leaders across multiple geographies.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of R&D projects, ensuring delivery against scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Manage portfolio risks, dependencies, and resourcing, proactively identifying issues and driving resolution.
  • Provide clear, accurate portfolio insights, acting as a single source of reliable project data and KPIs.
  • Support and oversee project governance, including milestone and approval processes, enabling effective and timely decision‑making.
  • Partner with R&D and Commercial leadership to prioritise initiatives and balance portfolio trade‑offs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate portfolio review and leadership decision forums.
  • Build, lead, and develop a team of Project Managers through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Strengthen project and portfolio management practices through continuous improvement and best‑practice sharing.

The experience we're looking for

  • Proven experience leading complex projects and portfolios within R&D, innovation, or product development environments, preferably in FMCG or Consumer Health.
  • People leadership experience, including building, managing, and developing project management teams.
  • Strong background in cross‑functional collaboration, working with disciplines such as R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance
  • Experience operating within structured portfolio or governance frameworks.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP) is an advantage.
