About the role

The R&D Assistant sits in China IW Condom category RD team, plays an essential role in leading the condom NPD/EPD projects, BDI’s & other initiatives such as maintenance activities. The role requires practical, technical & organisational skills and the ability to work independently within a multi-disciplinary project team whilst having strong ownership of key aspects of the project. They work in close collaboration with the wider R&D matrix & with other functions in the business, to ensure we meet needs of both the China & Reckitt business. 

Your responsibilities

•    Support new product development through extensive laboratory work, including experimental design, formulation research, laboratory testing, and hands-on operation of lab equipment throughout the product development lifecycle. 
•    Conduct formulation development and optimization, including raw material screening, formulation trials, process parameter studies, and evaluation of product performance. 
•    Perform and document experiments, such as lab trial, process validation, and stability studies, ensuring scientific rigor and data reliability. 
•    Be responsible for design transfer during product development, ensuring the reliability and robustness of formulations and manufacturing processes from pilot to production scale. 
•    At appropriate milestones during development, ensure that all relevant product specifications and internal documentation are completed and approved; author design documentation, experimental reports, and risk management files throughout the product development process. 
•    Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good documentation practices, applying a “right-first-time” laboratory and quality mindset to strengthen quality awareness. 
•    Develop new products with a consumer-centric and digital mindset, and present experimental results and product concepts in a clear, visualized manner. 
•    Always take responsibility for workplace safety, health, and environmental protection, especially chemical and laboratory safety, to ensure an accident-free and positive working environment.

The experience we're looking for

•    At least a master’s degree in Materials, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or other related science and engineering disciplines. 
•    Fresh graduates, or candidates with relevant experience in product development roles within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or medical device industries; hands-on laboratory experience and 1–3 years of R&D experience are preferred. 
•    Willingness to accept a certain level of business travel (~20%) and flexibility for laboratory trials, pilot runs, and production line commissioning activities. 
•    Strong adaptability, with continuous learning capability and learning agility. 
•    Solid data analysis and data interpretation skills, especially for experimental and laboratory data. 
•    Good command of written and spoken English.
