About the role

Junior R&D Associate plays an essential role in leading the NPD/EPD projects, BDI’s & other initiatives such as maintenance activities as part of the One China R&D team.  The role requires high level of practical, technical & organisational skills and the ability to work independently within a multi-disciplinary project team whilst having strong ownership of key aspects of the project. They work in close collaboration with the wider R&D matrix & with other functions in the business, to ensure we meet needs of both the China & RB business.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for early-stage formulation development, technology scouting, and exploratory research to build a strong innovation pipeline and develop novel technologies and formulations for future product platforms and consumer-relevant innovations.
  • Projects delivered on time with all required documents being completed to meet regulatory and legislative standards. Any issues or risks clearly highlighted to line managers in a timely manner.

Enforce quality mind by ‘Right first time’ practice for working in area by following documented procedures & follow good documentation practice such as technical transfer.

  • To be consumer & digitally minded to develop new product ideas and pipeline moving forward.  Create and develop new robust evaluation methodologies leading to sustainable and consumer-relevant claims
  • Be aware, accountable for safety, health & environment in workplace all time to ensure free-accident & good environment area of working. Follow safety, health & environment regulations & policy by working safely, reporting unsafe condition / unsafe act / near miss accident to supervisor as well as suggest for any improvement

The experience we're looking for

  • Major in relevant scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, or Polymer.
  • Relevant experience within product development role within FMCG environment with a minimum of 1 year’s experience working in R&D or technical support functions.  
  • Strong responsibilities and ownership on assigned tasks/projects
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop strategies, tactics and measurable implementation plans and able to transform solid thinking into action (a thinker and an achiever)
  • Strong intellectual curiosity with an appetite for exploring new and previously uncharted territories and an openness to change and an ability to think out of the box
  • Good English skills with experience in international company an advantage
