About the role

The role is to primarily drive and maintain Reckitt Japan business as a key R&D representative in the responsible area(s).

- Implement R&D activities ranging from net revenue protection (compliance, quality issues, out of stock avoidance, etc), net revenue growth (NPD, EPD, BDI, etc), growth margin improvement, sustainability.

- Interface and communicate with key partners and stakeholders, including (but not limited to) Marketing, Supply, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, external 3rd parties in the global, regional and local levels on a daily basis.

Your responsibilities

  • Take a lead of R&D projects in responsible categories and brands and implement them at regional/local level by ensuring all required technical activities are performed on time and to the required internal and external standards and market conditions. Technical activities include (but not limited to) formula development, product prototyping, feasibility work, analysis, validation, stability testing, industrial trial, consumer/clinical study preparation, claim substantiation and dossier preparation, etc
  • Perform project management as technical project lead (TPL), including prepare a project plan with timeline for all technical activities, play as the key R&D contact for all stakeholders (global and local) involved in the initiative, manage and allocate resources to complete the tasks as per plan, keep a good track of the activities versus the plan, keep the key stakeholders informed about the progress and issues, and manage changes to preserve the commitment.
  • Take a role as SPOC (Sing Point of Contact) for Japan business (Health) to identify and address the gaps in project, resource and portfolio management by closely liaising with respective R&D functions based regionally and globally.  
  • Collaborate with local commercial organizations in relation to consumer complaints and quality issues, competitor challenges and legal / regulatory inquiries concerning technical matters relating to products marketed within the country and/or region.
  • Collaborate with Supply function regarding technology and product expertise, for production start-up and scale-up, quality and process improvements and cost savings projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing organizations (local / regional) to provide technical expertise and required business support to ideation, evaluation and execution of commercial initiatives and projects
  • Ensure and maintain all the required documentations along with global and local quality management system (QMS) and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Be a subject matter expertize (SME) in the responsible projects/areas for internal and external audits.

The experience we're looking for

  • Minimum five-year R&D experience with a proven track record of delivery
  • Experience of working in the FMCG industry (personal care, home care categories) is preferred
  • Experience of working in a Healthcare environment with a basic Regulatory knowledge (USP, EurP, JP, etc.) is plus
  • Proven project management skill with a consistent ownership under pressure
  • Experience of problem solving by showing logical thinking
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience of influencing others
  • Experience of working in global companies with global colleagues/stakeholders on a regular basis
  • People management and team development experience
