About the role
You will work on creating strong, relevant, topical ‘so what’ insight, which is a foundation pillar in our Go-To-Market model. The Category Development team provide insightful, data-based recommendations, utilising Reckitt category strategy to help retailers optimise their 4P execution.
While delivering the fundamentals (Shelf, Distribution and adjacencies) will always be a core focus for the team, it is critical that they build effective relationships and develop long terms strategies with key retail partners.
The Category team take market leading shopper insights framed in relevant macro context, to add value to our retail partners and help them interpret the changes they need to make to optimise their category performance in the context of key trends changes in dynamics. Using the latest in shopper and category data, and insight on future trends, they position themselves as thought leaders and key category strategic partners for the future.
Your responsibilities
There are three specific areas of responsibility
Delivering Category Fundamentals
- Ensuring the business can access accurate and curated insights for the area they are responsible for (Health/Hygiene), at both a category specific and macro trends level
- Ensuring that reporting is optimised well structured and meets the needs of the business
- Ensuring that key shopper agencies add value and deliver against their requirements to support the team
Designing Category Strategic Vision
- Working cross functionally with category team and commercial strategy team (trade marketing) to develop strategic vision documents that frame the macro direction of the category
- Developing aligned CAGR growth outlooks for categories and channels
Developing Thought Leadership Pillars
- Working with the Head of Category to ensure that key shopper insight projects are effectively delivered and deployed across the commercial organisation, maximising visibility and impact of insights with our customer and upon our overall business strategy
Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
- Managing and maintaining the Insights Hub for the Total Business
- Managing select data agencies
- Ensuring insights are organised, accessible and visible
- Business reporting is effective and meets users needs
- Developing category and channel forecasting that is aligned and able to be leveraged internally and externally for planning purposes
- Co-creates impactful strategic vision documents with trade strategy team and head of category
- Briefs, manages and ensures the effective deployment of key insight projects that are pivotal to category understanding

The experience we're looking for
- Degree calibre with data agency or shopper insights background, and experience within FMCG
- Ability to analyse large volumes of complex information, interpret & construct straightforward plans
- Experience working with and delivering projects through agencies or direct from agency
- Confident and capable of communicating and operating at all levels
- Strong knowledge of Syndicated Data (Nielsen/IRI, Panel Data, Shopper Card Data)
- Advanced usage of Excel
- Strong influencing expertise
- Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills
