About the role

This role supports the Reckitt Health’s release function pertaining to Drugs (DIN), Medical Devices, Natural Health Products (NHP’s), Cosmetics and general products under the direction of Quality Management.  The Commercial Quality Specialist will work effectively with internal parties, suppliers, and governmental agencies with very little direct oversight from remotely located management.  Employees in this job will be required to develop and support compliance schemes against the Canadian GMP requirements regulating the pharmaceutical, NHP, and Medical devices. Utilizing root cause analysis tools, employees in this job will be responsible for defining causes and sources of non-compliance and recommending corrective actions and efficiency improvements for distribution and supplier operations. 

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for formal release of all Medical devices, DIN, NHP, and Cosmetic products.
  • Exhibits in-depth understanding of Health Canada requirements for Medical Devices, NHP, DIN, and Cosmetics Products. 
  • Key QA Release Contact and SME for all internal, customer, and regulatory audits. 
  • Maintain and control ERP and SAP systems to coordinate and monitor release systems for Health. 
  • Interpret GMP regulatory requirements for product releases, providing guidance for compliance and EPD/NPD support. 
  • Improve existing and develop new Quality Processes, writing and implementing associated procedures and documentation. 
  • Conduct investigations of undesirable trends affecting product release, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. 
  • Collaborate with departments like Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Change Control, and Logistics to resolve issues proactively. 
  • Coordinate recalls, mock recalls, hold notifications, and stop-shipments in consultation with management. 

The experience we're looking for

  • Degree in scientific or engineering field from a Canadian university or university recognized by Canada as accredited. 
  • Experienced working within manufacturing and or distribution pharmaceutical products in a professional / exempt level position in the areas of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, or similar disciplines.  Must include at least two years of such experience in Canada. 
  • Sound understanding of GMP's, Health Canada regulations and requirements especially for importing and distributing  DIN, NPN and medical devices. 
  • Experience with conducting internal audits based on GMP products.
