About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Quality Systems & Microbiology Associate to join our Quality team. This critical role combines hands-on microbiological laboratory activities with the leadership and continuous development of our site’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) program. You will contribute to the safety and quality of our products through robust microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and proactive quality systems improvement.

Your responsibilities

Microbiology Laboratory Execution & Oversight

  • Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental monitoring (EM) according to internal procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and calibrate microbiology equipment and ensure readiness for internal and external audits.
  • Manage consumables and lab supplies.
  • Ensure a state of audit readiness and compliance at all times.
  • Contribute to the validation of microbiological methods and support troubleshooting of microbiological deviations or out-of-spec results.
  • Lead the improvement pillar of our laboratory, searching for optimized ways to execute daily activities, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards and simplifying the laboratory routine.

Quality Systems & GMP Compliance

  •  Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the site’s Factory GMP Program in alignment with company and regulatory expectations.
  •  Conduct GMP training sessions, onboarding, and refreshers for site personnel across departments.
  • Own or support internal audits, hygiene walkthroughs, and gap assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), working instructions, and checklists with a mindset for simplification and digitalization.

The experience we're looking for

  • Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, or related discipline, with a focus in Microbiology.
  • Solid understanding of microbiological principles, aseptic technique, and hygienic manufacturing practices.
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, or cosmetic manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of a Quality Management System principles, including prior experience as lead or internal auditor for ISO 9001:2015.

  • Familiar with relevant regulations (e.g., EU GMP, ISO standards).
  • Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken).
