About the role
Business Development Manager is responsible for macro total business and retailer/category specific insight streams. The role will provide highly impactful strategic insight into the business and manage a range of broad and specific insight briefs to ensure that all research/data is delivered through the most appropriate means with clear action focused outputs, gets to a clear ‘so what’, is in the retailers/trade’s language, delivered in an influential dialogue and structure. Proactive insight generation will also be key as the role will deliver proposals for and actual insights to help the business achieve its objectives given either current ‘hot topics’ or ‘trend identification’.
Your responsibilities
Delivering Category Fundamentals
- Constantly analyze categories & brands performance in channels/customers, deliver actionable recommendations & insights to excell the business
- Be on track with current / future trends in categories knowing their possible impact on business
- Ensuring the business can access accurate and curated insights for the area they are responsible for at both a category specific and macro trends level
- Support Sales Systems Team in ensuring that reporting is optimised, well-structured and meets the needs of the business
Designing Category Strategic Vision
- Working cross functionally with category team (Marketing) and commercial strategy team (Trade Marketing) to develop strategic vision documents that frame the macro direction of the category
- Developing aligned forecast growth outlooks for categories and channels
Support the Trade Marketing Teams to develop and deliver effective 4P execution
- Support local Success Models and an understanding of customers, categories and consumers to maximise category performance & liaise with Trade Marketing to ensure that NPD plans and wider categories are aligned and best practices are shared
- Be experts on Trade Stories regarding NPDs / new listings & how to drive category on customer level
- Identify growth opportunities – where and what should we do as a company
Working closely with Sales & Trade Marketing
- Act as a consultant for Customers, Sales department and Trade Marketing on listing priorities, optimum promo mechanisms & promo plans
- Co-creation of Listing Priorities at customer level in cooperation with Sales and Trade Marketing;
- Support Sales & Trade Marketing Teams in preparation of customer annual workshops & strategic meetings with customers being vital part of the cross-functional Team
The experience we're looking for
- University Degree preferably in Business, Marketing
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role (6 years overall experience in Trade Marketing and/or Sales)
- Experience in OTC categories is a must
- Experience in Category Management (CatMan) will be a plus
- Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills
- Very good knowledge of English
- Good knowledge of trade marketing, sales & category management in FMCG industry
- Ability to analyse large volumes of complex information, interpret & construct straight forward plans
- Experience working with and delivering projects through agencies
- Confident and capable of communicating and operating at all levels
- Demonstrable commercial acumen and good understanding of Customer Management Process.
- Strong knowledge of Syndicated Data (IQVIA/Nielsen/IRI, Panel Data, GUS/GfK, Shopper Card Data)
- Advanced usage of Excel & Power Point
- Strong ability to influence others
