About the role
The Customs & Trade Manager at Reckitt plays a pivotal role in ensuring the company’s EU operations remain fully compliant with all customs regulations while driving efficiency and strategic value across trade processes. This role demands a deep understanding of EU customs laws, the Union Customs Code (UCC), international trade protocols, and regulatory frameworks. The manager will lead initiatives to streamline import and export procedures, optimize duty management, and ensure accurate classification, valuation, and origin determination of goods.
Your responsibilities
- Oversee Customs Compliance across EU operations
- Manage Commodity Classification under EU TARIC codes, including BTIs and rulings
- Ensure accurate Valuation and application of Incoterms for intra-EU and extra-EU trade
- Determine Origin and Preferential Origin under EU trade agreements (e.g., EU-UK TCA, EU FTAs)
- Supervise Import/Export Documentation and clearance instructions for EU customs authorities
- Define Clearance Instructions for customs agents and brokers across EU jurisdictions
- Coordinate Authorisations and Licences, including AEO status and special procedures (e.g., inward processing)
- (Note: Export Controls are minimally applicable at Reckitt)
The experience we're looking for
- University degree in International Trade, Business, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in customs and trade compliance, preferably within a multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of EU customs regulations, including the Union Customs Code (UCC), valuation, classification, and origin rules
- Familiarity with global trade frameworks, including Incoterms and EU preferential trade agreements
- Proven experience managing audits, disclosures, and complex customs advisory matters
- Deep technical expertise in customs compliance, including BTIs, Incoterms, and clearance procedures
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage and influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Project management and continuous process improvement mindset
- Experience managing third-party vendors, customs brokers, and trade partners
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach
- Fluent professional English language required
