About the role
As the QC Microbiology Team Lead, you will take front-line responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Microbiology Laboratory at our Wilson factory. This role ensures that all work is completed on time and in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), supporting our commitment to consumer quality and customer service excellence.
You will define and maintain robust procedures, act as a subject matter expert on microbiological issues related to site and product manufacturing, and drive continuous improvement in quality processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the Microbiology team to deliver efficient, accurate QC processes aligned with business targets.
- Coordinating environmental and water monitoring programs, including sampling and trending of results.
- Ensuring the laboratory operates effectively and meets compliance standards.

Your responsibilities
- Conducting analysis in accordance with relevant Good Manufacturing & Laboratory Practices.
- To lead the activities of a team of analysts on a daily basis, ensuring effective use of resources.
- Prioritizing day to day workload of the team to meet customer service requirements with no past due samples.
- To train personnel in the application of techniques, use of instrumentation, software applications and new methods and procedures, and to maintain training files.
- To be responsible for delegating appropriate tasks to their team whilst retaining ownership.
- To ensure that results are checked, approved, recorded and available for inspection.
- To ensure that equipment used is maintained and calibrated to appropriate standards.
- To maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping in his or her work area.
- To maintain and support the laboratory quality systems.
- To understand and follow all necessary Health & Safety systems and ensure that work is consistent with safe working practices.
- To conduct and oversee microbiological investigations, non-conformance reporting and change management within QC as defined in SOPs.
- To have ownership for the accurate collation of data and providing interpretation of trends in order to highlight concerns to QC leadership and through the supply chain.
- Work directly with Site Hygienist on all micro-related product vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate environmental & water monitoring schedule and sampling.
- Trending of environmental & water results and creation of investigation and reports when needed.
- Provide Microbiological expertise and advice to Operations, Engineering and Technical teams.
- To have effective use of appropriate communication to ensure timely resolution with all relevant parties whilst maintaining the positive image of Reckitt and QC.
- Ensuring audit readiness and be the lead subject matter expert for audit activities relating to Microbiology.
This role is not currently sponsoring visas or considering international movement at this time.
The experience we're looking for
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years full-time microbiological laboratory experience and 2 years in a leadership role.
- Requires experience with USP Microbiological Examination Tests and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledgeable in environmental monitoring of Oral Solid Dosage and Liquids production facilities.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to work cross functionally.
- SAP, LIMS and/or other data systems experience a plus.
- Ideally experience in dietary supplements or pharmaceutical GMP/GLP.
- Ability to work on own initiative in an accurate and reliable manner.
