About the role

Reckitt has acquired a new facility in Wilson, NC and an onsite R&D PDM team is a critical part of our ambition. This newly created role is to be the lead for all R&D PDM aspects of the project, overseeing the establishment of R&D capabilities, delivering the R&D PDM aspects of the tech transfers, and developing the site into a thriving and dynamic facility.

 

The role of the R&D Operations Manager is to protect, maintain & optimise a complex portfolio of Selfcare products on a global scale, everyday living the fight for access to the highest quality hygiene, wellness and nourishment as a right, not a privilege. Doing the right thing, always.

 

This agile and dynamic role is responsible for managing a team to deliver a varied set of projects and maintenance activities aligned with the relevant business, regulatory and supply strategies.

In addition, the manager is responsible for championing functional best practice, and implementing strategy for relevant areas of responsibility in alignment with cross functional stakeholders.

Scope / dimensions of role

•    R&D PDM lead and responsible for all R&D aspects to deliver the Wilson site project.
•    Commissioning and leadership of the Wilson R&D laboratories.
•    Recruitment of the new R&D PDM team on site in Wilson.
•    R&D leadership of a designated range of marketed RB products, ensuring continued compliance, availability on shelf for our consumers, and optimised costs
•    To work with a large and complex group of key partners and stakeholders (supply, regulatory, quality, local and global marketing, Category R&D) to deliver a wide range of projects/solutions across the Selfcare portfolio.
•    To manage and develop an R&D team including analysts, formulators & project leaders delivering product changes, putting our people first.
•    To champion the science and consumer experience behind our brands, leveraging this to take fit for purpose approaches to manage product change
•    To formulate and implement portfolio improvement and maintenance strategies across the given Health brands.
•    Responsible for various technologies leveraged on current marketed products.
•    Ownership of direct communication with senior internal and external stakeholders.
•    Own, champion and lead continuous improvement culture within team and wider as appropriate to deliver excellence in R&D Health and GxP.

Your responsibilities

Provide Strategic direction and guidance to the team in order to:
•    Continue to build, via a continuous improvement culture, excellence in all aspects R&D Selfcare and GxP.
•    Ensure all work is performed on time and to the required scientific depth, quality and regulatory standards and in line with the Reckitt processes
    •    Project types include R&D responsibilities related to: regulatory compliance, resolving quality issues, resolving formulation and analytical challenges, site transfers, cost savings, 
•    Provide leadership, development & line management to your team.
•    Manage & secure team resources (people/budget) to deliver projects to the business.
•    Support the wider Health team with respect to required activities that support operations in shared laboratories (maintenance activities, audit preparations, etc.)
•    Develop a team of global product portfolio experts to provide support across the globe for a given product portfolio.
•    Represent the team in cross functional strategic initiatives
•    Lead certain global compliance programmes for the health BU, leading cross functional teams to deliver proactive company response to upcoming regulations, ingredient restrictions, or internal 

Key challenges

•    Managing a complex number of projects across a number of brands and technology platforms
•    Direct exposure to senior stakeholders in pressurized situations, often as the sole R&D representative
•    Prioritization across many functions and projects
•    Delivery through others
•    Liaison with colleagues across the international community to provide technical support
•    Agreeing and securing resources to support project delivery
•    Provision of a fast-paced scientific service to demanding customers with challenging timelines
•    Influencing and negotiating with a diverse variety of stakeholders
•    Be willing/able to travel to support as needed around the globe
•    Engaging cross functional resources to support delivery of team objectives
•    Emphasis on continuous improvement in high paced environment.

The experience we're looking for

QUALIFICATIONS 
•    Educated to Degree level (Chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering or other relevant science)

EXPERIENCE 
•    Minimum 5-7 years R&D experience with a proven track record of delivery.
•    Leadership and development of a team of people, and ability to deliver through others
•    Experience of working in a Healthcare environment is desirable (medical device, licensed medicine or cosmetic) 
•    An excellent technical problem solver.  
•    Proven track record in active collaboration with R&D and non-R&D functions
•    Experience with resource planning
•    Experience in prioritizing workloads that include both high volume and complexity 
•    This role is not currently sponsoring visas or considering international movement at this time.

•    The business language in RB is English, therefore fluency in English is essential and fluency in local languages advantageous

US salary ranges

USD $129,000.00  -  $193,000.00

US pay transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
