About the role

The Food Safety and Quality Sr. Manager leads the food safety and quality related activities of the supply transformation project in Zeeland, MI from start to finish. They provide leadership to strategically manage risk, ensure that the project meets food safety and quality standards, and initiatives related to those are completed on time and within budget. 

Your responsibilities

  • Participate in the Development of quality and food safety standards as needed: Collaborate with a cross-functional team to establish standards for food safety, quality, reliability, and performance where they are not already in place.  These must be based on global best practices such as, but not limited to 3A and EDHEG standards.
  • Ensure existing best in class food safety standards are utilized:  ensures Mead Johnson standards for site and equipment design are implemented and ensures all equipment is validated to perform expected food safety and quality functions.
  • Ensures state of the art food safety and quality systems are incorporated in equipment design: Ensures in-line equipment for testing, assuring, and controlling food safety and quality aspects of the products produced in the facilities covered by Vivid are selected to ensure current and future needs.
  • Conduct audits: Lead and perform audits to ensure food safety quality standards are being met during the construction process.
  • Manage food safety and quality processes: Design, implement, and oversee food safety and quality management processes during the design, build and implementation of the new facilities and rebuilding existing facilities.
  • Manage risks: Identify and manage risks that could delay the project or damage its reputation, including ensuring contractors comply with food safety expectations during site construction and when zoning criteria are in place.

The experience we're looking for

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in food safety and quality management
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA, and state food safety regulations
  • Understanding of sampling, testing, verification and validation processes
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering, Food/Bio Sciences, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience participating in CAPEX projects from a food safety and quality perspective is desired, not required
  • Ability to travel up to 10% - 20% of the time in early phases of the project

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
